transmeds: You should have to be diagnosed by a psychiatrist before recieveing any kind of trans healthcare

also transmeds: Why does it take so long to access trans healthcare? Must be the tucutes

transmed-scum

nah sorry bro, transmeds as a collective think access to hormones and transgender surgeries is way too fucking easy

on the other hand though, trenders are fucking taking up resources that they have no business taking in the first place via lying to their fucking doctors to get what they want and then crying when they end up hating their body’s now that they’ve had the surgeries and hormones and detransitioning

metamorphosisofthespirit

It took me two and a half years to get hormones and another two and a half to get surgery and you call that “easy.” Yo what the fuck.

Can someone explain to me why we just accept that Sun = Masculine and Moon = Feminine, but somehow stargender is just “absurd nonsense”

metamorphosisofthespirit

Cause if we wanna stop associating genders with celestial bodies then fine but how about we start with cis people and we get to enbies when we’re done with that.

Or do you just wanna attack the people with less social capital than you?

transmedicalism-saves-lives

You do understand that guys don’t actually say their gender is the sun, right? Like, Greek and Roman mythology has the god of the sun, Apollo, as a male, and the Goddess of the Moon, Artemis, as a female, but that doesn’t mean people think their gender is that thing.

metamorphosisofthespirit

The association goes way further than that though. The moon as a symbol of womanhood is pretty well established across multiple cultures.

But like when women say they feel their gender is connected to the moon nobody bats an eyelid.

I don’t think anyone’s literally identifying as a star. They’re just saying “my gender is associated with it”. Like how your gender can be associated with a sun god or a huntress who is also the moon.

They’re just cultural memes about gender. There’s no reason why enbies shouldn’t be allowed to create their own cultural mythology to explain their gender in the same way as binary folk do.

transmedicalism-saves-lives

Alright, but let’s be real for a second- being a guy doesn’t actually put you in tune with the sun. It’s just cultural. It’s based in mythology, not science. Being male is not being “sun-gender,” and feeling a connection to something is not the same as that thing being your gender. Saying you feel connected to the starts is fine- still pretentious, still annoying, but whatever. Saying you feel connected to the stars and that is a gender is transphobic and infuriating.

metamorphosisofthespirit

Have you ever asked a stargender person if they think the relation between their gender and the stars is scientific.

Because it feels like you’re holding non binary people to a different standard to the one that you’re holding cisgender or binary trans people to.

If I had to guess, it’s because you tie your sense of validity to the scientific basis for your gender identity, and therefore see anything that doesn’t meet that standard as being invalid rather than realising it’s a different type of expression.

Most of our experiences are better not explained through the lens of science.

transmedicalism-saves-lives

Gender isn’t a religion. Gender isn’t an expression. Gender is not even remotely tied to personality or your sense of self, it’s a real, concrete thing, the sex that you’re comfortable as. If gender were some religion, I wouldn’t be changing my sex to have a decent quality of life. It’s, quite frankly, offensive to act as though gender is just a form of self-expression, especially since that implies that binary people must fit gender roles or stereotypes to truly be men or women.

I hold binary people to that standard. I hold cis people to that standard. If a woman says that men are aggressive and violent, I call that out as misandry. If a man says women are nurturing and need children to be happy, I call that out as misogyny. Gender is not a set of personality traits, much less an experience.

If a nonbinary person needs sex characteristics somewhere between male and female to live comfortably, of course I’ll support them. However, if your idea of nonbinary is based on feelings or identity, that’s downright insulting to transsexuals and shouldn’t be ignored or considered remotely acceptable.

metamorphosisofthespirit

Yeah that makes no sense. Gender isn’t tied to your sense of self except your experience of being comfortable in a sex. How is that not your sense of self? How is that not an identity?

If you say “I am comfortable as a man/woman/nb, therefore I am a man/woman/nb ” that’s self-identification. That you justify it by being comfortable… I hate to break it to you but comfortable is a feeling. By your own logic, gender is an identity and it is based on feelings.

There’s nothing wrong with feelings, friend. They’re a powerful guide to understanding our experience. The whole point of transitioning is to feel better.

“Demisexual people don’t experience sexual attraction until a deep bind has formed…so like EVERY OTHER PERSON–”
Mmmm nope. Couples who wait in a relationship to have sex do so because they want to get to know each other better before they start doing the do. They already find each other sexually attractive (mostly), they already have the attachment, it’s just polite to actually get to know your s/o before trying to get in their pants. I’m thinking it might be slightly culturally influenced. Also, there are people who start dating just so they can bang, so the above statement doesn’t make sense.

Demisexual people don’t feel that sexual attraction until they feel close enough to their partner, so that could be weeks, months, or years, depending on the person. It’s more of an emotional attachment than a polite gesture the way it is with other couples.

I mean this is just my take on it, but I’m pretty sure that’s the general idea.

^ THIS
Demis literally just, don’t feel any attraction. At. All. Until maybe they establish a close emotional bond with someone. Maybe it happens. Not always, just because you feel close to someone doesn’t mean you’ll be attracted. And then it might hit. It’s like having a requirement.
Saying it’s “like everyone else” isn’t right. If everyone was demi, there’d be no one night stands. You’d never be at a club or a bar and go after someone because you want to get laid. It just doesn’t work like that
Thank you OP! As someone on the ace spectrum, i can say you did an awesome job explaining it

SAY IT AGAIN FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK

metamorphosisofthespirit

Genuine question cause I’m curious and I think a lot of the bad takes come from not understanding: How do demisexual people pick their partners? Do they like start dating someone and hope they feel attraction somewhere down the line? Or is it a just fall in love with their best friend after knowing them for years type deal?
